The filter can be opened and the individual filter components can be cleaned and washed manually. Unlatch the 4 clamps and pull up on the container lid (this may require considerable force due to the pressure seal). Do not use any cleaning agents — wash the sponges with tap water only.

The bio‑balls should only be cleaned if they are highly contaminated. Use pond water only to preserve the micro‑organism colonies and keep the filter biologically active.

After cleaning, ensure the O‑ring rubber seal is correctly positioned. If misaligned, the filter may leak during operation.
